88E1543-A1-LKJ2I000 is a quad-port Gigabit Ethernet transceiver from Marvell's Alaska® family. It is a physical layer device containing four independent Gigabit Ethernet transceivers on a single monolithic IC. Each transceiver performs all the physical layer functions for 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-T standards.[reference:0]
The device supports Quad Serial Gigabit Media Independent Interface (SGMII) to Copper and Dual-port SGMII (system) to Copper/Fiber/SGMII with Auto-Media Detect.[reference:1] In addition to supporting Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE, IEEE 802.3az) on the new generation of enabled MACs, these products are also capable of implementing EEE with legacy or non-EEE devices by incorporating EEE buffering.[reference:2]
The device also integrates MDI interface termination resistors into the PHY, simplifying board layout and reducing board cost by reducing the number of external components. The Marvell calibrated resistor scheme achieves and exceeds the accuracy requirements of the IEEE 802.3 return loss specifications.[reference:3] The Alaska 88E1543 device has an integrated switching voltage regulator to generate all required voltages and can run off of a single 3.3V supply.[reference:4]
The 88E1543-A1-LKJ2I000 is the industrial temperature grade version in a 128-pin LQFP package with an exposed pad, rated for operation from –40°C to +85°C. The device is RoHS compliant, REACH unaffected, and in active production.
Quad-Port Gigabit Ethernet Four independent Gigabit Ethernet transceivers supporting 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 10BASE-T standards on CAT 5, CAT 3, 4, and 5 cable.[reference:5]
Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) IEEE 802.3az compliant with EEE buffering for legacy or non-EEE devices, plus Wake-on-LAN (WoL) support for programmable lower power event and link change detection.[reference:6]
