LT3042HDD#TRPBF is a high-performance low-dropout linear regulator from Analog Devices (Linear Technology) featuring the company's ultralow noise and ultrahigh PSRR architecture for powering noise-sensitive RF applications. Designed as a precision current reference followed by a high-performance voltage buffer, the LT3042 can be easily paralleled to further reduce noise, increase output current, and spread heat on the PCB.[reference:0]
The device supplies 200mA at a typical dropout voltage of 350mV. Operating quiescent current is nominally 2mA and drops to less than 1µA in shutdown. The LT3042's wide output voltage range of 0V to 15V, while maintaining unity-gain operation, provides virtually constant output noise, PSRR, bandwidth, and load regulation independent of the programmed output voltage.[reference:1]
The regulator features a single-resistor programmable output voltage with a 100µA SET pin current (±1% initial accuracy), programmable current limit, fast start-up capability, and a programmable power-good indicator. A single capacitor improves both noise and PSRR. Built-in protection includes reverse-battery protection, reverse-current protection, internal current limit with foldback, and thermal limit with hysteresis. The LT3042 is stable with a minimum 4.7µF ceramic output capacitor.[reference:2]
The LT3042HDD#TRPBF is the H-Grade version in a thermally enhanced 10-lead 3mm × 3mm DFN package with an exposed pad. It is specified for operation from –40°C to +150°C junction temperature and is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications. The device is RoHS compliant, REACH unaffected, and in active production.[reference:3]
Ultralow Noise LDO 0.8µVRMS output noise (10Hz–100kHz) and 2nV/√Hz spot noise at 10kHz for noise-sensitive loads such as PLLs, VCOs, mixers, and LNAs.[reference:5]
Wide VIN & Adjustable VOUT 1.8V to 20V input, 0V to 15V adjustable output with 200mA output current and 350mV typical dropout voltage.[reference:6]
Ultrahigh PSRR & H-Grade 79dB at 1MHz with virtually constant performance across the output range. H-Grade specified for –40°C to +150°C junction temperature, AEC-Q100 qualified.[reference:7]
