LT3042MPMSE#TRPBF is a high performance low dropout linear regulator from Analog Devices (formerly Linear Technology), featuring ultralow noise and ultrahigh PSRR architecture for powering noise sensitive RF applications. The device is designed as a precision current reference followed by a high performance voltage buffer, and can be easily paralleled to further reduce noise, increase output current and spread heat on the PCB.[reference:0]
The LT3042MPMSE#TRPBF supplies 200mA at a typical 350mV dropout voltage. Operating quiescent current is nominally 2mA and drops to <<1µA in shutdown.[reference:1] The device features a wide output voltage range (0V to 15V) while maintaining unity-gain operation, providing virtually constant output noise, PSRR, bandwidth and load regulation, independent of the programmed output voltage.[reference:2]
The LT3042MPMSE#TRPBF is stable with a minimum 4.7µF ceramic output capacitor.[reference:3] Built-in protection includes reverse battery protection, reverse current protection, internal current limit with foldback and thermal limit with hysteresis.[reference:4] The device is available in a thermally enhanced 10-lead MSOP package and is rated for operation from –55°C to +150°C as an MP-Grade device.[reference:5][reference:6] The LT3042 is Recommended for New Designs and is AEC-Q100 qualified for automotive applications.[reference:7][reference:8]
Ultralow Noise 0.8µVRMS output noise (10Hz–100kHz) and 2nV/√Hz spot noise at 10kHz for noise-sensitive RF applications.[reference:9]
Ultrahigh PSRR 79dB at 1MHz provides excellent rejection of power-supply ripple and switching converter noise.[reference:10]
MP-Grade Temperature Range Extended –55°C to +150°C operating range for military and harsh-environment applications.[reference:11]
