LT3480HMSE#TRPBF is an adjustable frequency (200kHz to 2.4MHz) monolithic buck switching regulator from Analog Devices (Linear Technology) that accepts input voltages up to 36V, with a 60V maximum transient rating protected by overvoltage lockout. A high-efficiency 0.25Ω switch, a boost Schottky diode, and the necessary oscillator, control, and logic circuitry are integrated on the die[reference:0].
Current mode topology is used to achieve fast transient response and excellent loop stability. Low ripple Burst Mode® operation maintains high efficiency at low output currents while keeping output ripple below 15mV in a typical application. Additionally, the LT3480 can further enhance low output current efficiency by drawing bias current from the output when VOUT is above 3V[reference:1].
Shutdown mode reduces input supply current to less than 1µA, while a resistor and capacitor on the RUN/SS pin provide a controlled output voltage ramp (soft-start). A power good flag signals when VOUT reaches 86% of the programmed output voltage. The device is available in a 10-lead MSOP package with an exposed pad for low thermal resistance[reference:2].
The LT3480HMSE#TRPBF is the H-grade version in a thermally enhanced 10-lead MSOP package (MSE), specified for operation from –40°C to +150°C junction temperature. The device is RoHS compliant, REACH unaffected, and in active production[reference:3].
Wide 3.6V to 36V Input Range Operates from 3.6V to 36V with overvoltage lockout protecting the circuit through 60V transients.
2A Output with 70µA Quiescent Current Delivers up to 2A output current while maintaining 70µA quiescent current (12VIN to 3.3VOUT) in Burst Mode® operation, with output ripple below 15mV.
Adjustable 200kHz to 2.4MHz Frequency A single resistor sets the switching frequency, with synchronization capability from 250kHz to 2MHz. Integrated boost Schottky diode reduces external component count.
